Megaday is an extremely enjoyable pop event held annually in the town of Caerphilly South Wales to help raise needed funds for the Velindre Hospital cancer appeal.
Megaday Started in 1995 by the people of Caerphilly as a tribute to a close friend and fellow musician Andrew Nichols who lost his battle with cancer. Andrew Nichols was known to his friends as Mega. (thus the name Megaday). In August 2001 we also lost Paul Grahame (PG) to cancer. Paul had played at every Megaday with his band PG and the Tips and had also played a major role in the organisation of every Megaday.
This highly successful festival celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2015. Megaday constantly attracts huge audiences and has previously won backing from the likes of the Manic Street Preachers, the Stereophonics, Catatonia and the GLC.
All of those who have attended Megaday before will know that it's about raising as much money as possible for Velindre Hospital whilst having a great time doing it. Although Megaday was originally started as a tribute to Mega and PG, it has also become a great opportunity for anyone who has in some way been touched by cancer to celebrate the lives of family, friends and loved ones.
All profits made from Megaday go to Velindre Hospital Wales where Andrew and Paul were treated. The money goes towards cancer care and research. Over the past nineteen years Megaday has raised nearly £300,000 for Velindre Hospital, an achievement all who are involved with Megaday are very proud of.
This site is designed to inform, celebrate and promote all aspects of this wonderful event so please enjoy it !We hope to see you all again at Megaday 2016.
In memory of Andrew Nichols and Paul Grahame.
